Random

The Random operation generates pseudo-random values in either integer or floating-point mode with a configurable range. It includes a gate input for conditional execution.

Min equal to Max makes every draw that one value, and the Editor marks both fields with an info mark.

Inputs

PortTypeRequiredDescription
> (Gate)AnyNoWhen connected, a false or Nil value stops the path. See Gate Inputs.

Outputs

PortTypeDefaultDescription
OutInteger or FloatNilGenerated random value. Type follows the Mode picker (Property-driven).

State on Reload

The last output is preserved across restarts. RNG state is not preserved; a new seed is applied on each start. Saved output is discarded if the configured mode (Integer or Float) changed.

  1. Gate check — If a Gate Input is connected, evaluate it. A false or Nil value stops the execution path; the output keeps its previous value.

  2. Generate — Based on the selected mode:

    • Integer: Uniform integer distribution over [Min, Max]. Bounds are swapped if entered in reverse.
    • Float: Uniform real distribution over [Min, Max). When Min == Max, the exact value is returned.
  3. Output — The generated value is emitted on Out.

Mode: Integer   Min: 1   Max: 6

Out: a random integer in [1, 6], e.g. 4

  • Simulating sensor data or random events during development.
  • Generating random delays or jitter values.
  • Producing test data for downstream operations.

  • RNG state is not preserved across restarts; sequences are not reproducible after a reload.
  • Only uniform distributions are supported (integer or float).
