Gate

The Gate operation is a conditional pass-through. When the gate is open, each data input is copied directly to its corresponding output. When the gate is closed, all outputs retain their previous values and the execution path stops at this Node.

With the gate input unconnected the Gate always passes, and the Editor shows an info ring on that input saying so.

Inputs

PortTypeRequiredDescription
> (Gate)AnyNoControls whether data passes through. When false or Nil, the operation is skipped and the path stops. See Gate Inputs.
In (variable, up to 20)AnyYesData inputs whose values are forwarded to corresponding outputs.

Outputs

PortTypeDefaultDescription
(disabled port)———
Out (variable, up to 20)Mirrors paired inputNilEach output takes the type of the paired input; value is the input when the gate is open, previous value when closed.

Properties

Gate has no properties — its behaviour is entirely determined by whether the Gate Input is connected and what value it carries.

Its Node carries the On Error verb every fallible Operation carries — see the Error Handling guide.

State on Reload

All outputs are preserved across restarts within the configured time window. There is no compatibility check on reload: if the number of inputs/outputs changed, saved values are restored into matching ports by index where possible and may not align with the new wiring. Review outputs after any rewiring.

  1. Gate check — Evaluate the Gate input.

    • Open (not connected, true, or non-Nil): proceed to copy data.
    • Closed (false or Nil): skip data copying; outputs keep their previous values and the execution path stops at this Node.
  2. Pass-through — Each connected data input is copied as-is to its corresponding output. No type conversion or transformation is applied.

  • Conditional data routing — only allow data to proceed when a condition is met
  • Creating a “firewall” for data flow in a workflow
  • Holding previous values when a gate is closed, preventing Nil propagation downstream

  • Up to 20 data inputs/outputs.
  • No data transformation is performed; the Gate is a pure pass-through.
